Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved a monthly stipend of ₦20,000 for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who are indigenes of the state and currently serving across Nigeria. The announcement was made over the weekend during an interactive session between the governor and corps members of Akwa Ibom origin in Uyo, the state capital.
According to the state government, the allowance is part of ongoing efforts to support young citizens from the state during their national service year and ease the burden of economic hardship. The governor expressed gratitude to the corps members for their service to the nation and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and welfare.
The initiative has been widely praised by stakeholders, with several corps members lauding the gesture as unprecedented support from their home government. The allowance will be disbursed monthly through verified accounts of eligible beneficiaries, beginning immediately, officials confirmed.
