6-million-tonne capacity factory to be completed in 18 months, Jiuling Lithium officials assure
The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to industrial growth with a follow-up visit to Jiuling Lithium’s headquarters in Fengxin County, China.
The visit is part of a week-long investment drive aimed at solidifying a $200 million investment in a lithium factory to be established in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
The Governor toured the company’s facilities to gain firsthand insight into its operations.
Jiuling Lithium is renowned for mining mineral resources and producing lithium carbonate, a key component in renewable energy batteries.
Speaking during the visit on Thursday – earlier today, January 23 – Sule emphasized the significance of the investment for the state’s economic development.
“This partnership is a game-changer for Nasarawa State. With the establishment of this factory, we will not only create jobs but also position our state as a hub for renewable energy technology in Nigeria,” he said.
During the meeting, Jiuling Lithium officials reiterated their commitment to completing the 6-million-tonne capacity factory within 18 months.
A company spokesperson commended the investment-friendly environment in Nasarawa State, highlighting the ease of doing business as a major incentive.
“We are impressed by the proactive approach of the state government and the stability of the investment climate. This has encouraged us to explore further opportunities in Nasarawa State,” the spokesperson noted.
Governor Sule’s visit to China came on the invitation of LOVOL Engineering Company Ltd., a globally respected manufacturer of farm equipment and machinery.
The Governor is expected to hold further discussions with potential investors to boost economic activities in Nasarawa State.
The lithium factory is anticipated to not only drive industrialization in the state but also contribute significantly towards realising Nigeria’s renewable energy aspirations.
