Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu swore in the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), today, at a ceremony held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The event followed the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing all 57 chairmanship positions and 375 out of 376 councillorship seats in the July 12 local government elections.

Sanwo-Olu urged the new council leaders to prioritize grassroots development and deliver “selfless, responsive, and accountable service,” emphasizing that their policies must enhance residents’ welfare regardless of political affiliation, according to a statement cited by Business Hallmark.

The swearing-in, attended by dignitaries including traditional rulers, state executive members, and community leaders, marked the start of a new term for the council executives, who were charged with aligning with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda for development.

Hon. Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki LGA, speaking on behalf of the chairmen, pledged commitment to the governor’s vision, promising to foster inclusive governance, per New Telegraph.

Sanwo-Olu also commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a credible election and thanked security agencies for maintaining order. The governor assured continued collaboration to ensure no community is left behind in Lagos’ development journey.
