Uma Ukpai as “a gift to the state and humanity,” during the Night of Songs and Tributes held at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, on Friday. The event was part of the home-going ceremonies organised by the state government in honour of the revered clergyman, who passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
Addressing a gathering of religious leaders, government officials, and thousands of mourners, Governor Eno lauded Rev. Ukpai’s life as a model of morality, compassion, and selfless service. “Rev. Uma Ukpai was more than a spiritual leader; he was a beacon of hope for the marginalized, a voice for the voiceless, and a man whose influence knew no borders,” the governor said.
