Recently, Emir Mohammed Sanusi II voiced concerns about Nigeria’s economic challenges, focusing heavily on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. However, governance in Nigeria is *not a one-man responsibility*—Senators, House of Representatives members, and Governors all play crucial roles in managing public funds and driving development.
Governors receive *three times the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds*, yet essential development in many states remains stagnant. Senators have *2 billion Naira* each for constituency projects, while House of Representatives members manage *1 billion Naira* for similar initiatives. *Despite these massive allocations, Nigerians continue to experience rising costs, poor infrastructure, and lack of basic services.*
Additionally, *Governors and State House of Assembly members spend public funds purchasing luxury vehicles for themselves, just as seen at the federal level*. While *President Tinubu has provided vehicles to Senators and House of Representatives members for service-related duties, this is not a crime, as it follows the same practice at the state level, where Governors equip their State House of Assembly members.* However, the real concern is *not about vehicles—it is about ensuring these leaders use their positions and resources for the good of the people* rather than excessive personal benefits.
Nigerians must *wake up and actively demand answers* from their elected representatives. *How many of us have called our Senators and House of Representatives members to ask about our constituency project funds?* These funds belong to the people and should be used to improve communities—not sit in the pockets of politicians. It is every Nigerian’s *right* to demand transparency, track spending, and ensure that public funds are utilized for meaningful development.
While national focus remains on the presidency, *state governments and legislators must also be held accountable*. Every public official—from governors to senators—must ensure transparency in the use of public funds and prioritize *real development* over excessive spending. *Nigeria’s progress depends on collective leadership—not just the President alone.*
The nation’s future demands *fairness, transparency, and immediate action* from every elected official. Nigerians must *hold all leaders accountable*, ensuring that public funds serve the people and not personal interests.
