Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a Staff of Office to the reinstated Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Kirmau Mai Gabas).
It would be recalled that the Emir, now relegated to a second class monarch, was reinstated to the throne following the reappointment of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.
Emir Abdulkadir had accepted his dethronement in good faith and had declined to contest or oppose the administration.
While issuing him with the Staff of Office, Yusuf urged him to lead by example and represent his people as expected.
While extolling his virtue, the Governor described him as a man of integrity, simplicity and honesty and enjoined him to live by the tenets of his office and in peace with his people.
Yusuf expressed optimism that the Emir would sustain the legacy of his late father by upholding social justice in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
