Former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Hashim, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Nigeria, declaring that surrender is not an option despite the nation’s worsening political, economic and security challenges.
Hashim made the declaration in Abuja during a North Central zonal meeting of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement, which brought together state coordinators from across the region.
Addressing the gathering, Hashim said the realities confronting the country demand steadfast leadership, organised civic engagement and citizens who are prepared to remain involved in nation-building rather than retreat into apathy or despair.
According to him, Nigeria is at a critical moment in its history and requires leaders and citizens alike to demonstrate resilience, courage and a renewed sense of responsibility to steer the country towards stability and progress.
He urged members of the Solidarity Movement to remain committed to peaceful advocacy, grassroots mobilisation and constructive participation in the democratic process, noting that meaningful change can only be achieved through sustained engagement.
Hashim further stressed that while the challenges facing Nigeria are daunting, they are not insurmountable, expressing confidence that collective action and purposeful leadership can restore hope and strengthen the country’s democratic foundations.
The meeting ended with a renewed pledge by participants to continue mobilising support across the North Central zone in pursuit of national unity, good governance and sustainable development.
