The Vice Chancellor of the newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTESI), Iyin Ekiti, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, has reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to its vision of producing globally competitive graduates who will drive innovation and technological advancement in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interactive session with stakeholders on Monday, Prof. Aribisala said the university was determined to fulfill its mandate as a center of excellence in science, technology, and environmental studies.
He emphasized that FUTESI was not just another addition to Nigeria’s growing list of universities but a forward-looking institution positioned to bridge the nation’s technological gap and nurture the next generation of innovators.
We have started laying the foundation for meaningful changes in technology, and we want people to support us to achieve the lofty dream,” the Vice Chancellor said.
Prof. Aribisala noted that the university was open to partnerships with individuals, corporate bodies, research institutions, and international organizations that share its vision of advancing sustainable technological development.
According to him, collaboration would be critical in ensuring that the university’s academic programs, infrastructure, and research outputs align with global best practices and industry needs.
He added that the institution’s curriculum had been carefully designed to blend academic rigor with practical experience, ensuring that graduates are not only employable but also capable of creating innovative solutions to national and global challenges.
The Vice Chancellor further revealed that efforts were ongoing to establish state-of-the-art laboratories and research centers dedicated to renewable energy, environmental conservation, and digital technology.
Prof. Aribisala expressed optimism that with sustained government support and active participation from the private sector, FUTESI would soon become a beacon of scientific and technological excellence in Africa.
Our goal is to produce problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders who will put Nigeria on the global map through cutting-edge research and technological breakthroughs,” he added.
The newly established Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, was among the institutions recently approved by the Federal Government to expand access to quality tertiary education and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in science and technology.
