The Rivers State Executive Council has announced the cancellation of a ₦134 billion contract earlier awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for the reconstruction of the State Secretariat Complex.
This major decision was reached during the council’s first meeting since the suspension of the six-month state of emergency. The session was held at the Government House in Port Harcourt and chaired by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Those present included the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service, eight commissioners retained in office, and the Permanent Secretaries of Works and Education.
