The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday urged motorists and other road users plying the Agbara-Badagry-Seme Expressway to obey traffic rules and regulations to prevent crashes.
The Badagry FRSC Unit Commander, Mr Yusuf Sanni, advised motorists to prioritise safety on the roads while speaking at the Badagry motor park during the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Crash Victims.
The event had the theme “Lost Talent,” highlighting the immense human potential wiped out by road crashes.
According to Sanni, accidents do not respect anyone.
“Anyone can be involved once he or she disobeys the rules and regulations laid down by the corps,” he said.
Sanni added that road crashes remained a leading cause of death among the young and the old in the country.
“Each life lost represents a dream interrupted, a future unfulfilled, and a talent that can never be replaced.
“While deaths are counted annually, families remain bereaved forever.”
“Many who lose friends, colleagues, neighbors, or community members continue to suffer in silence,” he said.
The unit commander said the command had visited selected mosques, churches, and hospitals to sensitise people on proper highway use.
“We have visited five selected places, including parks, mosques, churches, and hospitals, where we educate people on why they must obey traffic rules and regulations.
“The people of Badagry are law-abiding citizens. We were warmly welcomed, and they even encouraged us to come regularly,” he said.
