The Federal Government, operating through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, has approved five digital financial platforms and mobile money operators to disburse a one-off N50,000 cash grant to vulnerable households across Nigeria.
The intervention forms a critical component of the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), an initiative established to cushion the impact of rising living costs and ongoing inflationary pressures. The official rollout details were unveiled on Thursday morning during a press briefing at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Under the newly approved disbursement framework, eligible beneficiaries can access their emergency cash grant directly using designated shortcodes or mobile applications integrated with their registered phone numbers. Account holders with ALAT by Wema Bank can access the funds by dialing *945*23#, while MoMo PSB users can initiate retrieval via *671*0#.
Similarly, NairaGram customers may dial *726*00#, OPay beneficiaries can use *955*20# or log into the OPay application, and Moniepoint Microfinance Bank users can access the grant through *5573*27# or their mobile banking application. Ministry officials addressing journalists at the event stressed that beneficiary selection is derived strictly from the National Social Register and verified identity records, confirming that no independent application portals or third-party registration forms exist.
Officials emphasized that the N50,000 payout is a non-repayable direct grant requiring zero processing fees. Selected individuals will be notified directly via an SMS from one of the five approved service providers detailing the steps to accept the funds. To prevent financial fraud, the government issued a strict advisory instructing the public never to disclose banking PINs or one-time passwords (OTPs), while directing all inquiries and scam reports to the official NERSI Help Line.
