The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebration. The announcement was made on behalf of the government by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through an official statement released via the Ministry of Information and National Orientation’s X handle, @FMINONigeria.
In his message to the Muslim faithful across the country and in the diaspora, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations on the occasion of the Islamic festival, calling on the Ummah to reflect on the values of sacrifice and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He encouraged Muslims to seize the opportunity of the festivities to offer prayers for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
The Minister also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring Nigeria’s path to progress, noting that the reforms being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are designed to be people-focused and transformational.
He concluded by wishing all Muslims a joyful Eid-ul-Adha and urged Nigerians across all faiths to continue supporting the administration’s efforts in restoring the country’s global standing and national pride.
