The FBI has released new video footage showing the man suspected of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk fleeing from a rooftop moments after the attack at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
The Salt Lake City Field Office published the video and accompanying images on Friday, appealing to the public for help in identifying the suspect.
According to the bureau, the footage captures the suspect climbing onto a rooftop shortly before midday on September 10 and then leaping down after firing the fatal shots. He is later seen fleeing toward a wooded area near the university, where investigators recovered the weapon and ammunition used in the attack.
“The subject is seen jumping from the rooftop of a building after the shooting,” the FBI wrote in a statement on X. “Trace evidence collected from the rooftop scene included shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print.”
The bureau urged anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit its dedicated portal at fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting.
Officials confirmed that investigators have conducted nearly 200 interviews in connection with the case, with more than 20 law enforcement agencies collaborating on the manhunt.
At a news conference Friday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox played clips of the video, which showed the suspect walking across the rooftop before the shooting, then descending and heading toward the wooded area where his rifle was abandoned.
Additional photos released by the FBI depict the man wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a backpack.
Governor Cox said prosecutors would seek the death penalty against the attacker once apprehended, stressing that the state was committed to securing justice.
The release of the footage comes just hours after the FBI announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
The bureau added that the FBI and our law enforcement partners are working tirelessly to seek justice in this case.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was the founder and leader of the United States’ largest conservative youth movement and a close ally of President Donald Trump. He was shot dead while attending an event on campus, sparking widespread shock and condemnation from political leaders across the spectrum.
The FBI says it is treating the investigation with the highest urgency, as the manhunt for the suspect intensifies.
