The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has ordered a full-scale investigation into extortion allegations involving police officers at the command headquarters.

The probe follows a viral video posted on social media on October 8, 2026, where an Abuja-based content creator claimed that police investigators demanded N450,000 to begin investigations into a petition he submitted.

According to the content creator’s statement, he approached the FCT Police Command Headquarters along Garki II, Abuja, on October 6, 2026, to lodge an official complaint regarding a case of fraud and online harassment.

However, assigned investigating officers allegedly informed him that an upfront payment of N450,000 was required as an “operational fee” before any preliminary action or mobilization could begin.

In a press statement issued on October 8, 2026, at the Command Headquarters in Abuja, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that CP Sanusi directed the Command’s Professional Standards Unit (PSU) and the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit to investigate the claims immediately.

”The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, has taken swift note of the circulating video alleging financial extortion by officers of the command,” SP Adeh stated.

“The CP maintains a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, extortion, and professional misconduct. The officers implicated in the video have been summoned for questioning, and the complainant is urged to report to the Command Headquarters to assist in identifying the personnel involved.”

The Command assured the public that appropriate disciplinary actions, including dismissal and prosecution, will be taken if the officers are found guilty upon completion of the inquiry.
