A Bauchi-based endocrinologist, Dr Ayuba Mugana, has advised people living with diabetes to regularly consult endocrinologists for proper care and effective management of the condition.
Mugana advised in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said endocrinologists were specially trained to manage diabetes and related hormonal disorders, adding that newly diagnosed patients should seek specialist care early.
The expert also urged diabetic patients to engage in regular exercise, maintain healthy eating habits, and monitor their blood sugar levels regularly.
Mugana noted that while Type 2 diabetes could sometimes be reversed or effectively controlled through lifestyle changes and treatment, HIV/AIDS could not be reversed.
He, however, said both conditions could be effectively managed through proper medical care, adherence to medication, and regular follow-up with healthcare professionals.
