Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira, a former National Youth Leader and National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally resigned his membership of the party with immediate effect.
In a resignation letter dated December 22, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward in Chanchaga Local Government Area, Minna, MaiBasira expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he received while serving in various national and auxiliary capacities.
MaiBasira, who has been an active figure within the PDP, acknowledged the support and trust reposed in him during his tenure, noting that his decision to resign was taken after careful consideration.
While he did not disclose his future political plans in the letter, his resignation marks a significant development within the PDP’s structures in Niger State, where he has held influential positions over the years.
Party sources confirmed receipt of the resignation letter and said it would be officially communicated to the relevant leadership at both state and national levels.
The departure of MaiBasira comes at a critical period as political parties across Nigeria prepare for the 2027 general elections, potentially reshaping alliances and strategies in the lead-up to the polls.
