When the bodies arrive for autopsy, they are wearing the clothes they died in and the expert’s job is to undress them to begin the process.

Often, the dead arrive with the facial expressions they had in their last moments of life (fear, tranquility, anger, sadness) and sometimes even with tears in their eyes.

Coroners give a scientific explanation for this, claiming that when the brain is dead, the body freezes and everything stops, as it did during the last breath.

There is the case of a teacher who had been kidnapped, murdered and buried 3 weeks earlier in a remote location. When they found him, his body was still wearing the uniform of the school where he worked, in a fetal position and his face reflected deep sadness.

The doctors began to undress the body, without cutting the clothes, in order to analyze it, and it was practically impossible for the experts to leave him naked, given the rigor mortis.

That was when an experienced coroner arrived and told his secret. The other forensic experts in the room thought that the doctor would provide a technical, scientific, medical or professional solution, but to everyone’s surprise, the forensic expert began to “talk” to the corpse, while he began to undress it.

“You’re already here, my friend” “Your family has already found you” “You’re not alone anymore” “All they want is to make sure you’re at peace” “They’ve never stopped looking for you” “Help me finish quickly and go to your family”

Well, while he was doing this, the other coroners were astonished when they saw the corpse’s arms, legs and joints begin to soften. Remember that the body had been lying in the same position for three weeks, atrophied. Little by little, the coroner placed the professor’s body in a position as if it were lying upside down and his face changed, he seemed peaceful.

This method, according to the coroner, is used by good doctors who, despite living with death every day, have not lost the sensitivity of knowing that before them is a person who was a father, a mother, a son, a wife, a husband and who should be treated with respect and dignity. Many believe that corpses still emanate emotions.
