In a heartfelt message to the people of Cross River State, Governor Bassey Otu has expressed his gratitude for their exemplary behavior in the ongoing nationwide protests, commending Cross Riverians for what he described as their “patriotism, civility, maturity, solidarity, and understanding.”
Noting that their actions have set a remarkable example for others to follow, Otu emphasized in the thank you message entitled “Working towards achieving a better future for Cross River” and issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, the importance of patriotism.
“True patriotism is reflected in actions that prioritize the common good over individual grievances. I want to specially thank fellow Cross Riverians for choosing constructive dialogue over chaos. I want to thank you most profoundly for your wisdom in recognizing that unity and cooperation are essential for progress,” the Governor said.
Otu also lauded the citizens for their civility during the tumultuous period, pointing out that “your ability to maintain a calm and respectful demeanor is a testament to your maturity,” stressing that “true change comes from peaceful engagement rather than violence. I commend you for choosing the high road.”
Otu enjoined Cross Riverians to carry forward the lessons learned during the period of the protest, emphasizing the importance of standing together in solidarity, civility, and understanding.
“Once again, I want to thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to the state, and together, we will continue to build a state that exemplifies the best of what can be achieved when we stand united and work towards a better future for Cross River State,” he said.
