The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming June 20 governorship election, assuring residents that his administration would bring meaningful change and improved governance to the state.
Oluyede made the declaration through the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation, which on Wednesday intensified its appeal to voters ahead of the crucial election. The campaign urged the electorate to resist any form of inducement and vote according to their conscience and the future they desire for Ekiti State.
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti by the campaign organisation’s Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the PDP candidate said he remained optimistic about his chances at the polls, citing what he described as widespread support from residents who are eager for a change in leadership.
According to the statement, Oluyede believes the election presents a historic opportunity for the people of Ekiti to chart a new course for the state and elect a government that will prioritise their welfare, economic prosperity, and social development.
The campaign organisation said the PDP candidate was fully prepared to provide purposeful leadership capable of addressing the challenges confronting the state and creating opportunities for young people, women, civil servants, artisans, farmers, and business owners.
“Ekiti people should come out en masse on the election day to vote for Wole Oluyede and to shun the inducement by the All Progressives Congress,” the statement said.
The organisation further urged voters not to allow temporary incentives or material gifts offered during the election period to influence their decisions at the ballot box.
It argued that the governorship election should be viewed as an opportunity for residents to make a long-term decision about the future of the state rather than focusing on short-term benefits.
“Do not be influenced by election-season incentives. The June 20 governorship election will provide an opportunity for residents to remove the heartless government,” the campaign stated.
Oluyede’s campaign maintained that the PDP candidate possesses the vision, competence, and leadership qualities required to transform Ekiti and improve the living standards of its people.
According to the organisation, a government led by Oluyede would focus on policies aimed at boosting economic growth, creating employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, supporting agriculture, strengthening education, and enhancing healthcare delivery across the state.
The campaign also promised that if elected, Oluyede would pursue programmes designed to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance while ensuring that all parts of the state benefit from government projects and initiatives.
Supporters of the PDP candidate have continued to express confidence in his chances, insisting that the growing support base of the party across various local government areas reflects the desire of many residents for a new political direction.
