The incumbent Governor of Ekiti State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, has secured a decisive victory at his polling unit in the ongoing 2026 governorship election.
​Official results from Ward 06, Unit 003, Ikogosi-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area indicate that the governor comfortably won the majority of votes cast by his immediate kinsmen and supporters.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji received 326 votes at his own polling unit (Polling Unit 03, Ward 06) in Ekiti West Local Government Area. Asides from the invalid votes(3), total votes cast was 333 votes.
​The voting exercise, which commenced smoothly earlier in the day following accreditation via the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), saw a peaceful turnout of voters eager to cast their ballots. Local observers report that the atmosphere at the Governor’s unit remained orderly throughout the voting and counting process.
​This early victory at his home base provides a positive momentum boost for the ruling APC as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the collation of results from across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
