The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dissociated itself from the actions of a former staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, who was recently spotted participating in an online matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.
Folarin’s appearance on the TikTok live dating platform went viral after viewers identified him as an EFCC “officer,” sparking public concern and questions directed at the anti-graft agency.
In a statement issued on Monday via its official X handle, the EFCC clarified that Folarin had been dismissed from the Commission over certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate before his dismissal.
The Commission further revealed that its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered Folarin’s arrest for unlawfully retaining official property, including an identity card, which he failed to hand over after leaving the service.
“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms,” the statement read.
“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” it added
