A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Kingsley Oghogho Okundaye, has described Mr. Peter Obi’s campaign visit to Benin City to drum up support for the LP  governorship candidate in the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Mr. Olumide Akpata, as an electrifying moment for the party, saying Obi’s Charisma and ability to energize the people gave the party and supporters more of the energy and focus needed to go to the polls and win. .
Okundaye, in a telephone chat with a Sunday Sun correspondent in Abuja, enthused that the LP is already coasting to victory in Edo and Ondo States gubernatorial elections with the Party’s 2023 presidential flag-bearer,  Mr. Peter Obi’s solid support and mobilization of voters for the Party’s candidates.
Mr. Obi, the LP national leader,  was in Benin City, the Edo State capital, Tuesday this week to campaign and mobilise support for the flag-bearer of the Labour Party in this Saturday’s off-season governorship election in Edo State, Mr. Olumide Akpata.
Okundaye, Chairman of LP National Transition Committee on Mobilization and Recruitment NTC-LP, said “Obi’s electrifying presence” in Benin City on Tuesday this week to drum up support for the LP governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, ahead of the September 21 governorship election, confirmed the Labour National Leader as not only a force to reckon with but also a formidable force against any rival in Nigerian politics.
“As I said, the visit was electrifying and inspiring, and the atmosphere brings hope. I dare to say that the country needs more people like Peter Obi to make this country work. And it is also worthy of note that the country has many more people like him out there with equal capacity that, if given opportunity, will make this country work,” Okundaye emphasized.
According to the LP chieftain, Nigeria is in dire need of good leaders as the present APC administration has lost focus with its financial rascality and misplacement of priorities.
He described the LP candidate Olumide Akpata as a good representative of the party’s manifesto and ideology, adding: ” I don’t need to convince you that he, Olumide Akpata, remains the choice Edo people seek all these years. And that can be justified with the support of the 2023 Presidential candidate of the people who has thrown his honest weight behind him. One thing we should know is that Peter Obi does not stand for what he does not believe in.”
