The newly established Ebonyi State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) University has begun academic session with 200 students admitted by the institution.
Gov. Francis Nwifuru disclosed this to newsmen on Friday, on the sidelines of the 2026 Oferekpe Day celebration, at Oferekpe Agbaja, in Izzi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state,
“Yes, the school has commenced academic activities; The institution is already alive, students have been admitted, and academic session is already on,” he said.
The governor urged young people in the state and Nigeria at large, to take advantage of the opportunity by seeking admission into the university.
“The university is operating within the guidelines approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“NUC initially approved a maximum intake of about 1,000 students, but advised the institution to begin gradually.
“At the initial period, they were told to start with about 200 to 300 students, even though the approved maximum is 1,000.
“As I am talking to you, they have admitted over 200 students, and they are already in school,” he said.
