TRUMP takes the oath of office as he is sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

Donald John Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States in a ceremony attended by his immediate predecessor Joe Biden, ex-presidents Barack Obama, George W Bush, Bill Clinton and former Vice President Mike Pence.

This is Trump’s non-consecutive second term in office. His second term bid in 2020 after his first four years from 2016 to 2020, was thwarted by the outgoing President Joe Biden who resoundingly beat Trump in the 2020 presidential election election that the newly sworn-in President Trump claims till date that he won.

Kamala Harris, the immediate past Vice President and Democratic nominee during the last election also attended the event.

The ceremony was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda due to dangerously cold temperatures, making it the coldest Inauguration Day since 1985.

It was also the 60th presidential inauguration in the 250-year-old US democracy.

Newly sworn-in US Vice President JD Vance was ushered into the Rotunda at exactly 5:40pm Nigerian time, while Trump entered at 5:43PM for the one-hour ceremony.

Trump was sworn in at exactly 6:02 pm Nigerian time with two Bibles by Chief Justice Robert.

One is a personal Bible given to him by his mother in 1955, and another is the historic Lincoln Bible.
