The Order of the Knights of St Mulumba KSM, Nigeria has adverted its attention to some video clips, still trending virally on social media, depicting masquerades in false shows, mimicking Bishops, Priests and Altar Servers in a Eucharistic Procession in full Vestments, imparting blessings with the Monstrance, reserved only for Ordained Catholic Priests.
The Order is alarmed by this sacrilegious parody of the Eucharist, which tantamounts to an affront to the Catholic Church, its Clerics, and Lay faithfuls.
Incensed by this unprovoked aggression, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese and President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Lucious Ugorji reacted promptly to the sacrilege, emphasizing that the Eucharist in which Christ our devine Master is fully and entirely present is at the core of Catholic worship. The Eucharist is regarded as a most sacred and priceless gift to the church and should not be toyed with under any guise.
The Order aligns fully with the Archbishop on this score but insists on thorough and no holds bared investigation on this unprovoked aggression on Catholics globally.
KSM commends all those who have spoken out on this insanity and enjoins all Catholic Knights within Onitsha Archdiocese, as defenders of the faith and Catholic Actions, to work in concert to fish out the perpetrators. Similarly a meeting with the village heads and the masquerade cults in Achina must be held to register the churches angst on the sordid development, and possibly fish out the false spirits, whose nuances betrayed them as either Catholics or fallen ones.
The issue calls for the seriousness it deserves in order to stave off similar sacrilegious events and others bothering on blasphemy in the future.
Sir Dr Charles Mbelede, KSM, FNSE.
Worthy Supreme Knight
KSM Nigeria.
