Gov. Douye Diri has advised members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Bayelsa not to jeopardise their future for temporary pleasure but to remain disciplined, law-abiding and focused throughout their service year.
Diri gave the advice on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Boro Town, Bayelsa. Represented by his Executive Assistant on NYSC Matters, Mr Wisdom Poyeri, the governor commended the corps members for their discipline, resilience and active participation during the three-week orientation programme.
He urged them to uphold the values acquired in camp, saying the decisions they make during their service year could shape their future. The governor also assured them of the state government’s commitment to providing a peaceful, secure and enabling environment, urging them to make meaningful contributions to the development of the state.
Earlier, the Bayelsa State NYSC Coordinator, Samuel Pepple, congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of the orientation course and encouraged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and patriotism while promoting national unity in their host communities.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of security agencies, traditional rulers and government officials.
