THE Nzekwu family of Umuohule quarters, Umuidinisagba Village, Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, has announced the passing of their beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and elder statesman, Diokpa Fidelis Nduka Nzekwu.
Born on Monday, 14 April 1924, he passed on Thursday, 10 July 2025, aged 10
A statement by his son, Dr. Henry Nzekwu, described Pa Nzekwu as “a retired senior Nigerian police officer, a music lover, and an accomplished sportsman. He lived a remarkable life, marked by unwavering faith, wisdom, humility, and dedicated service to his family, community, and humanity. His legacy of courage, integrity, discipline, and leadership will be forever remembered and cherished”.
Dr. Nzekwu on behalf of the family announced the funeral arrangements as follows –
Thursday, 31 July:
Service of Songs at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ibusa. 5.30pm.
Pre-funeral welcome entertainment at the family compound, Umuohule, Umuidinisagba Village, Ibusa, 7.30 pm.
Friday, 1 August:
Lying in state at his residence, Umuohule Quarters, Ibusa. 9 am to 11 am.
Funeral Service at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ibusa, 12 noon.
Interment at his home in Ibusa. Only immediate family will attend.
Reception follows at the family compound, Umuohule Quarters, Umuidinisagba Village, Ibusa.

Pa Nzekwu is survived by his wife, Chief Mrs. Theresa Omebe Nzekwu; their children – Henry, Stella, Delia, Isioma, and Vivian; in-laws – the Henshaws, Uferes, Parkinsons, and Nwobis; grandchildren – Richard, David, Shanice, Tyrell, Adaoha, Nneka, and Ndidi; a great-grandchild, Chideziri; as well as his sisters, brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
May his lively soul rest in perfect peace.
