The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has assured that all outstanding financial entitlements owed to Super Eagles players and officials have been fully resolved.
Dikko made this known against the backdrop of reports suggesting that some players had threatened to boycott training sessions and the team’s planned trip to Marrakech ahead of Saturday’s international fixture against Algeria.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the NSC chairman dismissed concerns over unresolved payments, stressing that there was no basis for any protest by the players or officials.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had since November 2025 approved the Super Eagles’ budget for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a move that brought clarity and alignment among the National Sports Commission, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the players.
Dikko explained that the timely approval of the budget ensured that all financial obligations, including bonuses and allowances, were adequately covered and addressed in line with agreed standards.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the federal government to the welfare of national team players and officials, noting that such support was crucial to maintaining team morale and focus ahead of important international engagements.
The NSC chairman urged all stakeholders to remain united in their support for the Super Eagles as the team continues preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures.
