​The Delta State Government has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Hon. Reuben Izeze, following allegations linking him to an assault on a senior political aide. The announcement was detailed in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu.
The disciplinary action stems from an altercation at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, where Mr Simon Mudi , the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was allegedly attacked and beaten during a political gathering, sustaining physical injuries.
According to the state government, the suspension was instituted to ensure security agencies can conduct an unbiased and independent investigation into the incident without executive interference or political influence.
Emphasising its stance on governance and public order, the Delta State Government reiterated that state officials and public institutions are not above the law.
The administration affirmed its commitment to protecting the sanctity of human life and upholding public safety across all circumstances.
​The security authorities have commenced a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the physical confrontation at Effurun to determine responsibility and appropriate legal action.
