Veteran journalist and publisher, Chief Dele Momodu, has publicly lashed out at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, describing him as a “bull in the china shop” and a “loose cannon” who is unfit for the level of national responsibility he currently holds.
Reacting to Wike’s outburst during a recent appearance on Politics Today with Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye, Momodu said the former Rivers State Governor “went on full rampage to disparage everyone opposed to his despicable assault on our hard-earned democracy.” He noted that Wike seemed “soaked in some esoteric spirits” and sounded “garrulous” during the entire session.
Momodu, who has had a history of interactions with Wike, revealed that after his famous interview with Nnamdi Kanu in which the IPOB leader had blasted Wike, the minister sought a right of reply which was granted. According to Momodu, that marked the beginning of a strange rapport that included photo-ops, luxury gifts, and image-building gestures which he says Wike quickly embraced to boost his own political persona.
He didn’t hold back, adding: “Maybe he mistook me for some cheap journalists when he spoke about his food that I ate. As stupendously wealthy as he is, his crass food was not the type anyone would actually savor. Rather, I tooched him up like a beauty therapist and introduced him to some exclusive champagnes and perfumes.”
Momodu also accused Wike of having a fading memory and announced that he has requested a right of reply from Channels TV next Monday to “copiously show Nigerians, and President Bola Tinubu in particular, the type of loose canon he has unleashed on hapless citizens.”
Recalling their earlier ties, Momodu wrote: “He told me how he used to watch me, perhaps enviously, when I used to roll with his boss, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. He was our boy then, but too much money has now turned him into a rude kid.”
With evidence-laced jabs, attaching photos to his post, Momodu said “… you will see evidence of such bags filled with gifts from me to him. I have been balling globally with the high and mighty long before Wike got his first passport… Alhamdulillah.”
