A tragic accident involving a Dangote Cement truck claimed three lives on August 17, 2025, when it collided with a Mercedes-Benz GLK and another truck along the Benin-Okene Expressway, directly in front of Omega Fire Ministries in Auchi, Edo State, as confirmed by the Edo State Police Command. The crash, attributed to brake failure, occurred around midday, killing all three occupants of the GLK, with the Dangote truck catching fire before it was extinguished. Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, condemned the incident as “avoidable,” blaming reckless and poorly trained truck drivers. He stated, “Your recklessness in managing your business has caused harm to families,” criticizing Dangote’s management for entrusting heavy vehicles to untrained drivers, some allegedly under the influence.
The Edo State Police, through spokesperson Moses Yamu, confirmed the victims were rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead, with investigations ongoing. The incident follows another recent accident involving a Dangote truck that injured Ruth Otabor, amplifying public outcry, where users have expressed shock and demanded better road safety measures. Suleman called for stricter driver training and accountability, noting, “This won’t go unchallenged,” as the community mourns the loss.
