Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been banned from driving for six months after exceeding a London speed limit, the court confirmed.
The 51-year-old Austrian was caught by a speed camera driving his BMW along Old Kent Road in Bermondsey, South London last July, traveling at 29 mph in a 20 mph (32 km/h) zone.
Court records showed that Glasner had prior driving offences, which meant he was automatically liable for a driving disqualification.
Glasner appeared before Willesden Magistrates’ Court in northwest London, where he pleaded guilty to the speeding offence. Alongside his plea, he submitted a handwritten note in which he promised not to break the law again.
“I fully accept responsibility for my actions and understand the seriousness of this matter,” Glasner wrote. “I have taken steps to ensure it will not happen again.”
The FA Cup-winning manager chose not to contest the ban or attempt to persuade the magistrates to avoid disqualification, instead accepting the consequences of his actions.
The ruling serves as a reminder that London’s low-speed limits are strictly enforced, with previous offences increasing the likelihood of driving bans for repeat offenders.
Glasner’s suspension means he will be unable to drive for the next six months, although it does not affect his managerial duties with Crystal Palace.
