In a major boost to the aviation sector, the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu, has officially received two new aircraft, signaling a significant step towards improving the state’s air travel infrastructure.
The two aircraft, delivered as part of the administration’s broader plan to revitalize the sector, were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in a ceremony attended by a group of state dignitaries.
The delivery of the new planes is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the chronic flight cancellations and delays that have plagued air travel to and from the state, making it difficult for both Cross Riverians and visitors to travel with ease and reliability. Governor Otu, while expressing his excitement over the acquisition, emphasized that the new aircraft would significantly improve connectivity, providing smoother, more efficient services for those traveling in and out of the state.
The Governor was accompanied by several key officials, including his wife, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, and a host of distinguished individuals from the state. Among them were High Chief Edem Duke, former Minister of Culture and Tourism; Mr. Oden Ewa, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs; Chief Felix Idem, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs; Mr. Victor Edet, the Senior Special Adviser on International Cooperation and Investments; and Mrs. Sarah Archibong, Special Adviser to the Governor on the Cross River Liaison Office.
Also in attendance were Hon. Chris Mbu-Ogar, Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters; Mr. William Atoe, Senior Special Assistant on Party Affairs, alongside other dignitaries who have played significant roles in the development of the state.
Governor Otu’s administration has continually focused on infrastructural development as part of its broader efforts to position Cross River as a regional leader in business, tourism, and investment.
The acquisition of these aircraft marks a strategic step toward strengthening the state’s aviation capabilities and improving the travel experience for its people.
With the new aircraft now officially part of the state’s aviation fleet, Governor Otu reiterated the importance of partnerships with both private and public sector players in achieving sustainable growth in the sector.
The acquisition is also expected to enhance the state’s economic development by opening new avenues for tourism, trade, and investment.
