Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safety, tourism development and global cultural exchange.
The governor gave the assurance on Sunday in Calabar during the flag-off of the 2025 Bikers Carnival, one of the major highlight events of the annual Carnival Calabar festival.
Represented at the event by his deputy, Peter Odey, Otu said the state government had put adequate measures in place to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and participants throughout the festival period.
He assured both Cross River residents and the international community that the state remains peaceful and fully prepared to host a large-scale tourism event of global standard. According to him, security agencies and relevant stakeholders have been mobilised to guarantee a hitch-free carnival.
Otu also revealed that he personally inspected the designated carnival routes to ensure they were motorable and free from hazards, stressing that the safety of bikers and spectators remains a top priority.
The governor described the Bikers Carnival as a platform that promotes adventure tourism, cultural exchange and international friendship, while also boosting the state’s economy through increased visitor inflow. He reiterated his administration’s resolve to strengthen Cross River’s position as Nigeria’s premier tourism
destination, noting that events such as the Carnival Calabar play a critical role in showcasing the state to the world.
