The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has suspended its state chairman and several top officials over alleged misconduct and violation of party rules.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state executive committee after an emergency meeting in Birnin Kebbi. The party said the suspension followed multiple petitions from members accusing the officials of abuse of office, financial mismanagement, and actions capable of bringing the ADC into disrepute.

According to the statement, the affected officers include the state chairman, secretary, and treasurer, whose names were withheld pending the outcome of a disciplinary panel’s investigation.

State Publicity Secretary, Musa Danladi, who signed the statement, said the suspensions were necessary to preserve the integrity of the party and restore members’ confidence.

“We cannot fold our arms while a few individuals tarnish the hard-earned image of our great party. The state working committee has therefore resolved to suspend these officers pending the conclusion of investigations by the disciplinary committee,” the statement read.

The party has appointed acting officials to oversee the affected positions to ensure continuity of operations.

When contacted, one of the suspended officials dismissed the allegations as “politically motivated,” claiming the suspension was part of an internal power tussle ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC leadership in Kebbi assured members that the investigation would be fair and transparent, adding that any official found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate sanctions in line with the party’s constitution.
