The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered the suspension of all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Justice A.T. Segun-Bello issued the ruling on Tuesday, September 30, following an ex-parte application filed by five candidates – Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbemi, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak, who sued on behalf of other affected applicants of the 2025 post-UTME examinations of both institutions.
The applicants sought interim injunctions restraining UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB from releasing, uploading, validating, or finalizing any admission list for the new academic session.
Justice Segun-Bello ruled that the case raised a “veritable and triable issue” requiring both parties to be heard. The court consequently ordered:
That all respondents must maintain the status quo by suspending admission processes.
That JAMB must not process or validate any admission list already submitted by UNILAG and OAU.
That no final admission list should be released until the substantive motion is determined.
The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for further hearing.
