The most trending video clip of the year, is that clip where Minister Wike had a heated altercation with Lieutenant Yerima, a young Naval officer over a land owned by former Chief of Air Staff. It went viral and like a harmmatan it keeps spreading unending.
The public beating Wike got was unprecedented. He never bargained for it. To many it severed him right. To others his overbearing posture is getting irritating while others that he previously stepped on very sensitive parts, chuckled and giggled in recrimination.
Every generation births a man who walks straight into the storm, not because he seeks trouble, but because trouble is where truth must be confronted. And when such a man starts cleansing temples long polluted, the crowd quickly shifts from praise to condemnation.
So the question strikes with a bold echo: Could Nyesom Wike be that Messiah, metaphorically crucified because he dares to do what others feared?
Inside the Federal Capital Territory, Wike is not tiptoeing; he is uprooting. Not whispering; he is declaring. Not pampering; he is reforming. He may have his excesses, his arrogance, brash and uncouth mannerisms however, could he be that Messiah on the road to Golgotha to be crucified not because of a culpable offence but just to move him out of the way for impunity to continue?
