Conditions in Lebanon ‘deteriorating at alarming rate’, warns UN, as rockets from Leban kill 2 in northern Israel
The United Nations on Wednesday warned that Lebanon’s humanitarian crisis is deteriorating at an alarming rate amid the relentless bombardment by Israel.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which made the observation, warned that “the relentless bombardment is amplifying the suffering of vulnerable populations.”
OCHA spoke amid the continuing rain of Hezbollah rockets on northern israel.

In the Israeli strike on Beirut, the Lebanese capital, at least four people were killed on Wednesday in an area south of the capital Beirut, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
In the year since the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, more than 600,000 people have been internally displaced in Lebanon according to UN figures, with 80 percent of 978 collective shelters already at capacity.
At least 75 per cent of the shelters are converted school buildings.
The beginning of the school year has already been postponed to November amid the fighting.
Some 350,000 children have been displaced during the conflict in Lebanon, figures from UNICEF suggest.
Rockets from Lebanon kill two in northern Israel
Meanwhile, two people have been killed in northern Israel amid a barrage of some 60 rockets fired from Lebanon, the Israeli military reported on Wednesday.
In the Istown of Kiryat Shmona, a man and a woman were fatally injured by a rocket strike, the Magen David Adom rescue service reported on X.
In the port city of Haifa, shrapnel injured five people, with a 16-year-old suffering moderate injuries while the others sustained minor injuries.
While the Israeli military did not specify the source of the rocket fire on Wednesday, the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon has been attacking Israel’s northern border region with rockets, grenades and drones since the start of the war in Gaza a year ago.
The group claims its actions are in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza.
Israel has significantly intensified its military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon since September, conducting large-scale air strikes and a ground offensive.
