COLLEGE SECURES NUC APPROVAL FOR 38 DUAL MANDATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES

The Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State has obtained the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval for the establishment of 38 degree programmes under the dual mandate. This was contained in a letter by the Commission to the Provost dated December 1, 2025, signed by the Acting Director, Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei.

The Commission recalled the resource verification visit to the College by panels of experts to verify the
proposed undergraduate programmes of the College for the Dual Mandate.

This mandate allows for the concurrent offering of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)and Degree programmes in accordance with the provisions of the Federal College of Education 2023 Amendment Act.

The Commission noted that the Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate programmes to be run in the Main Campus of the College on dual mandate with effect from 2025/2026 academic session:

1. B.Ed. Primary Education

2. B.Ed. Adult and Continuing Education

3. B.Ed. Special Nceds Education

4. B.Ed.Educational Psychology

5. B.Ed. Early Childhood Education

6.  B.Ed.Guidance and Counselling

7. B.Ed.Educational Management and Policy

8. B.Ed.Library and Information Science

9 .B.Sc.Ed. Agricultural Scicnce

10. B.Sc.Ed. Home Economics

11. B.A.Ed. Creative Arts

12. B.A.Ed. Igbo

13. B.A.Ed. French

14. B.A.Ed. English
and Literary Studies

15. B.A.Ed. Christian Religious Studies

16. B.A.Ed. Creative Arts

17. B.Sc.Ed. Economics

While celebrating this laudable feat, the College Management led by the Provost, Prof T.O Okoli, thanked the NUC for the approval and promised to live up to expectations.

The Provost expressed profound joy with the staff of the College for their painstaking efforts during the resource verification exercise. She further urged all Deans, HODs and staff of the College to commence immediate enrolment drive to ensure that a sizeable number of students fill up the quota in each of the approved departments for the new academic session.
