The Centre for Management Development (CMD) has called for partnership with law enforcement agencies to tackle the deleterious operations of unaccredited management training firms in the country.
The Acting Director-General of CMD Modinat Olusoji, who spoke of this initiative in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday (Saturday, August 25) in Abuja, lamented that the activities of quack and unaccredited trainers in the training profession is hindering the development of the sector.
Olusoji urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to assist the centre in fulfilling its mandate.
She urged the anti-graft agencies to use their mandates in ensuring that unaccredited firms do not get training contracts, emphasizing that the regulatory powers of the centre are derived from the act establishing it.
Explaining that it is the responsibility of the centre to formulate policies and guidelines for the coordination of training activities throughout the country, Mrs. Olusoji said the centre also develops and promotes high national standards of management education, entrepreneurial development and supervisory training programmes.
The centre also keeps and maintains a register of management training institutions and their programmes including their subjects, location, standards, duration, type and cost, she added, advising all proprietors of training firms in the country to get their companies accredited by the centre to operate their business smoothly without fear.
The Ag. DG disclosed that no fewer than 400 training firms were accredited in 2023.Â
