Christian Eriksen is widely expected to depart Manchester United at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, and he has confirmed that he is not currently in negotiations with the club regarding a contract extension.
The 32-year-old Danish midfielder disclosed that he is not discussing a potential renewal at Manchester United. As he represents Denmark during international duty, Eriksen has hinted at the possibility of seeking a new challenge away from Old Trafford. He joined United in 2022 when Erik ten Hag took charge, arriving on a free transfer after impressing at Brentford following his heart scare.
Over his three years at the club, the former Spurs player has made 80 appearances, scoring six goals and providing 16 assists. He played a crucial role in Ten Hag’s inaugural season, helping the team secure the Carabao Cup and achieve a solid third-place finish in the league.
However, Eriksen’s influence waned last season as United finished a disappointing eighth, leading to speculation about his future, with clubs like Ajax, Anderlecht, and Real Betis reportedly interested. Despite the swirling rumors, Eriksen stated that leaving United was never on his mind this summer and emphasized that the club had not indicated any desire for him to depart.
“I had no thoughts about moving on, and I didn’t hear from the club that they wanted to sell me or that I had to leave,” Eriksen said from Denmark’s training camp in Alicante. “I really just felt that my family and I were doing well.”
Looking ahead, Eriksen is set to become a free agent next summer, and he has acknowledged that he is not engaged in talks with United about an extension, suggesting he will likely be in a different situation by the end of the season.
