The Nigerian military has arrested a Chinese national and several others in Borno State over alleged ties to terrorism financing. The arrest, confirmed by The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) spokesperson Major General Markus Kangye, was made public on Friday during a press briefing in Abuja. Kangye said the foreign national was among a group of suspects caught supplying logistics to terrorists operating in the North-East.
“We have arrested a foreigner, a Chinese. He is in our custody and undergoing interrogation. There are other accomplices that were also arrested,” Kangye told reporters. He added that their activities had been linked to aiding insurgents by facilitating supplies and movements that directly support terror operations in the region. The military did not disclose the individual’s name but noted that investigations are ongoing.
The arrest is part of a broader push by the Nigerian Armed Forces to cut off terror networks from their supply chains and financiers. According to the spokesperson, details will be released after the investigation is complete.
