Former Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, has defended the Southeast’s recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, describing the move as deliberate, well-considered, and fully attainable.
Chime spoke at the weekend during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise in Enugu West Senatorial District, emphasizing that the region’s support reflects the President’s performance in office and the confidence of Southeast leaders in his leadership.
“I am part of the Southeast, so you can take it for granted that I was part of that endorsement. That is our decision, and we all stand by it. It is easily achievable,” Chime stated. The former governor noted that despite global and continental economic challenges, Tinubu’s administration has delivered results that merit continued backing.
He also expressed optimism that the APC, under the President, would secure a decisive victory in the Southeast during the 2027 general elections. Chime’s remarks came shortly after Southeast governors, party leaders, and stakeholders formally adopted Tinubu as the APC’s candidate for another term, signaling a coordinated regional effort to consolidate support for the incumbent president ahead of the polls.
He urged party members and residents in Enugu West Senatorial District to actively participate in the ongoing e-registration exercise, describing it as critical for strengthening grassroots engagement and ensuring a smooth electoral process.
