The Holy Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church has celebrated* its centenary with thanksgiving services, seminars, praise nights, and reflections on the legacy of its founder, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase.
From Lagos to London, clerics and members described the milestone as both a moment of gratitude and a renewed call to holiness, unity, and service to humanity.
Speaking at one of the anniversary programmes in Lagos, the Chief Protocol Officer of the Order said the celebration went beyond marking years, stressing it was about reaffirming the eternal hope of salvation. “This centenary is not just for celebration, but a reminder to prepare for eternal life with Christ,” he said. He also addressed criticisms of white garment churches, insisting that the attire symbolises purity and holiness, citing biblical references from Revelation.
In a message from the diaspora, Senior Apostle General David Adiremi Fatoba, representing members in the United Kingdom, described the Cherubim and Seraphim as “a leading light of Christianity.” He noted that services conducted in English abroad have drawn younger members to the church, urging the youth to embrace the white garment tradition. “Even in the kingdom of God, we will be robed in white,” he said.
Women leaders also reflected on the church’s growth. Mother in Israel Rita, representing Edo-Delta-Anambra Province, said women were now more engaged in preaching, spreading the gospel, and making impact in society. “The centenary is a testimony of God’s faithfulness,” she added.
Elders of the Order revisited the teachings of Orimolade, reminding members that the founder rejected animal sacrifices, relying only on water and oil for prayers. They warned against deviations from the original doctrine, emphasising purity, prayer, and service.
Over the past 100 years, the Cherubim and Seraphim has expanded from a single parish to more than 100 worldwide, with branches in Europe, America, and across Nigeria. Despite challenges in the North, leaders said testimonies of healing and answered prayers continue to inspire conversions.
As the church looks ahead to its next century, members and leaders reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the founder’s vision, promoting holiness, and standing firm in the gospel of Christ.
