The Dr Patrick Ezie Campaign Organisation has donated a wheelchair to Mr Umar Musa, a person with disability from Gwagwa community in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), to ease his mobility.
The organisation also pledged to cover the medical expenses of a child, Alhassan Umar, who has lived with cerebral palsy since birth.
The Dr Patrick Ezie is the Chief Executive Officer of Silver Cross Hospitals and Foundation, Abuja.
He is aspiring to represent AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The donation and pledge were made during a medical outreach organised by the campaign organisation in Abuja on Sunday.
Ezie said the outreach was targeted at residents of AMAC and Bwari area councils, attracting participants from communities including Kubwa, Byazhin, Dutse, Gwagwa, Jiwa, Kaba and Kagini.
According to him, the outreach provided free medical services, including dental care, eye screening, medical consultations, antenatal services, family planning, and distribution of essential drugs.
“As a candidate aspiring to represent AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, I believe the people should begin to experience the dividends of democracy even before elections.
“We should not wait until we get into office before making an impact. If individuals can contribute in their own capacity, society will be better for it,” he said.
Ezie said the wheelchair beneficiary had lived with mobility challenges for over 20 years, adding that the intervention was aimed at improving his quality of life.
He also assured that the organisation would support the treatment of the child with cerebral palsy.
According to him, while government efforts may not always meet all needs, individuals and stakeholders must complement such efforts to improve access to healthcare.
Ezie added that he remained committed to addressing healthcare challenges across communities in the constituency, irrespective of political timelines.
Dr Jimoh Oludoun, a dentist with Dental Experience Organisation, a partner in the outreach, said more than 20 people received dental care during the exercise.
Oludoun said four tooth extractions were carried out for patients with severe pain, adding that the beneficiaries responded well to treatment.
“Our focus is to promote oral health and ensure access to dental care for all, regardless of background,” he said.
