British Airways denied boarding to 58 passengers on its Abuja-London flight on August 15, 2025, due to a faulty aircraft door, requiring several seats to remain unoccupied for safety reasons, as confirmed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
NCAA’s Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stated via X, “As a result of the faulty door, they had to deny 58 passengers boarding this morning.”
The airline provided hotel accommodation for 30 affected passengers, while 28 opted to return home, with arrangements underway to airlift them on August 16.
Achimugu encouraged passengers to file for compensation and contact NCAA Consumer Protection Officers for support in such disruptions.
