Rivers Sole Administrator appoints RSIEC Chairman ahead of August LG Election   The Rivers State Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas appoints administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State  Recall that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Electoral Commission (RSIEC) on March 5th fixed August 9, 2025, to conduct a fresh Local Government (LG) poll in the state.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (rtd), announced this at a stakeholders meeting for Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Â This followed the Friday judgment of the Supreme Court, which declared the LG election conducted in the state on October 5, 2024, as invalid.
However, Ibas has approved the appointment of Michael Odey as the new Chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC)
He also approved the reconstitution of some Boards of Agencies, Commissions, and Parastatals, earlier suspended.
