President Bola Tinubu has approved a cabinet reshuffle, merging two ministries as part of broader reforms.

The decision was announced during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, according to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga disclosed that the president has dissolved the Ministries of Niger Delta and Sports Development, replacing them with Ministry of Regional Development, which will oversee all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West & North East Development Commissions as well as South East & South West Development Commissions.

Additionally, the National Sports Commission will now assume the responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development.

The FEC also sanctioned the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, streamlining operations in those sectors.
