Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, has appointed Sa’id Alkali Kori as his Chief Investment Adviser and Pioneer Chairman of the newly constituted Governing Board of the Borno State Investment Promotion Agency (BSIPA), marking a strategic step in the state’s economic reconstruction and development efforts.
A statement on Thursday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, confirmed the appointment, noting that Kori will also serve as the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the agency.

“Kori is a consummate entrepreneur and investment and infrastructure finance expert. He holds a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences with a focus on Intellectual Capital from the University of London, United Kingdom,” the statement said.

Kori brings extensive experience to the role, having served as the Honorary Special Adviser on International Relations and Investment to the Governor of Yobe State and as Technical Adviser to the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum.
Governor Zulum’s administration described the appointment as a critical move to attract investments, strengthen infrastructure financing, and accelerate economic recovery in a state recovering from years of conflict.

Officials say Kori’s leadership is expected to position BSIPA as a key driver for mobilising both domestic and international investments, fostering private sector engagement, and supporting sustainable development initiatives across Borno State.

This strategic appointment reflects the governor’s commitment to leveraging expertise in infrastructure and investment to rebuild the state’s economy and create long-term opportunities for residents.
