The Federal Government officially opened the National Youth Confab 2026 on Saturday, October 3, 2026, urging young Nigerians across the country to pivot from ideological debate toward formulating concrete, actionable solutions to the socio-economic challenges confronting the nation.

The inaugural session commenced at 10:00 AM at the State House Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, gathering hundreds of student leaders, tech innovators, policy analysts, and youth delegates from across the six geopolitical zones.

Delivering the keynote address, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, stated that the conference was deliberately designed to move past conventional political rhetoric and deliver policy recommendations that can be implemented immediately.

”Young people represent the energetic backbone of this nation, but dialogue without execution is no longer sufficient,” Olawande told the gathering. “This confab is structured not as another talk shop, but as a collaborative workspace where young minds co-create solutions with policymakers, demand accountability, and take ownership of national development.”

Echoing those sentiments, the Special Adviser to the President on Youth Affairs, Titilope Gbadamosi, outlined the event’s framework, emphasising that the deliberations will focus heavily on digital economy integration, agricultural innovation, public safety, and structural governance reforms.

”We are creating a direct pipeline between the ideas generated in this hall and the highest levels of executive decision-making,” Gbadamosi said during her briefing. “The goal is to leave Abuja with a clear, time-bound roadmap that reflects the genuine aspirations and ingenuity of Nigerian youth.”

The two-week summit will run a hybrid model, combining regional breakout sessions and digital consultations alongside the main proceedings in Abuja. The conference is expected to conclude with the submission of a unified National Youth Development Blueprint directly to the Executive Council for policy integration.
